As you'll know from a previous post, due to isolation I'm playing catch up with my classes. Our May Just For Fun class is really the delayed April one but this is going to get confusing! Whatever we call it, I thought I'd share here with you.
Our focus was using the retired Honey Bee bundle of stamps and dies along with the coordinating DSP (decorative/patterned paper). Truly sad that these are not staying around for a little longer. Our little bees need so much more recognition, without them we would struggle to eat.
The DSP really is so elegant in monochrome black and white with gold to give a bit of bling, that I thought we'd let the paper shine and give it priority.
Our first card doesn't feature any stamping apart from the sentiment, even the bees are fussy cut from the DSP!
Our second card also allows the paper to take pride of place. We added a little extra colour by using touches of a coordinating Stampin' Blend on the DSP. Can you spot one of our new In Colours on this card? Yes, it's similar to an existing colour but is definitely different! The card base and soft cotton ribbon are both Bumblebee! Sequins are from my stash.
On our third card we glued strips of patterned paper at angles onto a piece of black card, leaving a small gap between each strip. You can opt for a straightforward design like a parquet floor or mix it up like I have.
Both the above cards are great for using up all the patterned paper we seem to accumulate! Great designs for masculine cards too.
Finally, to change things up a little, we decorated a chipboard hexagon with lots of inking. Then added honecomb die cuts - first sponging through one like a mask then gluing 2 to the front of the hexagon (they resemble the comb inside a hive) adding some stamping, and a little fine tip glue. When the glue dries it goes glossy and shiny, just like honey in a honeycomb.
The final piece can be hung up to decorate your home if you add a hole as I did,you could add it to the top of a box to give a very fancy finish or maybe use it as a tag.
The patterned paper I have used was from Saleabration. Although this is no longer available, we have other beautiful paper in our catalogues. If you'd like to see any of the products used there is a list below. Click on any item to find out more and to view in my shop.
I hope you've enjoyed seeing these projects. Do stop by again soon!
