Buffalo Check

Morning! How about a simple technique today?

Buffalo Check, a background stamp, is one of the largest sized stamps that we sell. Some people shy away from these stamps which is a shame since they're so useful. They may find that once mounted on a large clear block that they haven't had great success getting a crisp stamped image. This can be overcome quite easily with our Stamparatus stamping platform. But even if you don't own one of these super tools, if you find that you are someone who struggles with the clear image then I suggest mounting your stamp onto a clear plate which you use on your die cutting machine. This will enable you to a good image if you place the inked stamp onto your card stock and press down firmly all over the plate. The plate is flexible enough to have a little 'give' in it. How's that for a quick, useful tip!
So, don't avoid those large stamps, try fun the technique below.
I'm always looking for ways to enable my ladies to extend the use of the products that they already own. Sometimes this leads to them adding new items to their projects but, at others, they need very little in the way of extra supplies to create a new look.
Take, for instance, the Buffalo Check stamp mentioned above. I felt sure that we could liven up our images and get a new look. Sure enough, with the addition of a Stampin' Write marker pen we turned the check into more of a tartan. These pens can be purchased i colour families or as one complete set. Some of my ladies used more than on colour pen and some preferred to use our Stampin' Blends. Below I'm sharing the very simple card I prepared for them and some examples of how they might change up the buffalo check image.

On the samples below I used both ends of the Stampin' Write Markers and Stampin' Blends to create lines of different thickness. The blue/green one remind me of black watch tartan. It was easy to create a more feminine card simply by choosing a prettier colourway on the card above. The little truck and the stamped truck are from the Ride With Me bundle. Both dies and stamps can be purchased separately.

It wasn't long before they were racing off, each in their own direction, with all manner of different results as you can see from the photos below which were made by Sue.

Wanda even did her lines diagonally, that was certainly different!

Why not take a look at your stash of stamps and see if there are any you can change up. In the meantime, the Buffalo Check stamp is retiring so there is now limited time to get yours and try this technique - scroll down and click on the image below to shop.

Happy crafting!
