Turtle Love

Occasionally I take some downtime - 'me' time, away from my Stampin' Up! goodies. On a post earlier this month I mentioned that I'd just finished an unbirthday card which I made to send to a friend. She had gifted me the stamp that I eventually used on her unbirthday card, which was a fabulous gift and huge surprise. I can now share the card with you.
My photography skills not being the best, I am sharing a few shots of this same card to highlight different parts.
So, here is the card, the first photo is the straightest one I have!

The large turtle is the stamp I received as a gift. I love these creatures, even more so since seeing them in close quarters, tirelessly pull themselves from the ocean onto the sand when I went to Hawaii a few years ago. The tiny turtle, top left, is one of those in the now retired set From Land To Sea. The dies cuts are from the Under The Sea framelits.

This second photo shows the colours more vibrant (particularly where I coloured the shell), just as they are on the card.

Here you can see that I used fine tip glue around the edge of the shell so that it looks shiny and 3D.

In this final photo you can see how I did the shell. I stamped the whole turtle onto white card before colouring it in. Next I stamped the shell onto window sheet/acetate and cut it out, minus the rim/edge of the shell. Onto the main part of the shell which I'd stamped and coloured on the white card I now covered in fine tip glue, sprinkled with glitter and then laid the acetate shell over the top. This stuck the two pieces together encasing the glitter to give sparkle.
I hope you've enjoyed seeing todays card,
Happy crafting
Lesley
