Serene Garden & A Die Cut Tip!

Last month we used the Serene Garden bundle in our classes. The items in this bundle can also be purchased separately as Serene Garden stamp set and Garden Scene Framelit dies. Although the ladies had used this stamp set once before, it would be the first time using the dies. I also wanted to show them a little die cutting technique/tip which I've been using for some years and two new products one of which, although in the annual catalogue, sometimes seems to be missed when browsing.
The first new product I wanted to share is the Big Shot Embossing Mats. This super product enables you to make more use of your dies by allowing you to emboss with them, not just cut! How amazing is that!
We used them here, on the first card, along with the corner die from the  Garden Scene Framelit dies, to emboss the white card.

We stamped the flower on to a strip of white card and then used another new product to colour them - our new set of watercolour pencils (these were only available during the month if August) and an aqua painter. Finish with a sentiment, a few sequins and the lush mini striped ribbon in Gorgeous Grape to match the Gorgeous Grape base card.

On our second card is in Flirty Flamingo and Whisper White. We used the Tufted TIEF Embossing Folder, stamping the circle from the Swirly frames stamp set in Smoky Slate then die cut with one of the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Add a sentiment and then stamp, fussy cut and softly water colour the flower to layer on top. A little bling from a strip of glimmer paper and a few sequins.

This was our third card.

On this card we stamped the corner stamp which coordinates with the die used on our first card. Again, watercolouring with our pencils and an aqua painter, some ladies preferred a blender pen. For the dove we stamped one image onto the card then two more doves on spare cardstock which we die cut and layered to give the bird some depth. The base card is Highland Heather.

The final card is a base of Cherry Cobbler. The next layer is Whisper White which has been given texture using the Basket Weave TIEF Embossing Folder.

I was keen to give my ladies a little technique using  a stamp and die. We stamped the small flower with three leaves onto Whisper White card and trimmed around the leaves on the image but not the flower head. Then we placed the large square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits dies onto the card, under where we'd cut the leaves. This stopped the leaves from being cut off and left the flower head inside the square when we die cut the card.
I am really hoping that this new selection of pencils will be available permanently in the next catalogue. Such lovely colours.
All products used are available in my online shop. Click on the words to be taken to that product in the shop. Or simply browse by using the button on the right is you're viewing in Blogger or the tab at the top if you are viewing on my Stampin' Up! website.
I hope you've enjoyed joining me today and will stop by again soon!
Have a good week!
