Just For Fun - May 2018

This month two of our four class cards used the  Swirly Bird stamp set and coordinating dies the other two were made with Stampin' Blends,.
On our first card we used that Swirly Bird stamps to create a simple sea scene, topping with a stand fussy cut boat to finish with a cute little card. Whilst, in some ways, quite childish in design, it would also lift someones spirits.

For our second card, I had recently made a greeting card for a friend whose birthday I'd missed. As it was using Swirly Bird I thought it would fit with this months theme. we used both stamps and dies along with some Wood Textures DSP to give the illusion of looking through branches.

Our third card, a simple design, showed them how to colour on the reverse of vellum to give a muted image of the colour used. The stamp set is the now retired Lots of Lavender.

I've been wanting to try out a technique since I first saw it used by a demo called Katrina Duffell. I thought that it was perfect to fit into our Just For Fun classes and that my Ladies would like it too! Using two Stampin' Blends we created a background which looks dimensional, a little like hessian. The original card used a flower from the Saleabration set - Amazing You. I chose to use the larger flower in the Birthday Blooms set as I thought the Ladies might run out of time with a larger colouring area.

You colour the background then go over it using the colour lifter. We followed Katrina's example and used a ruler with the lifter, going across the card gradually, then from top to bottom, finally diagonally. You end up with a super effect. The more you use the lifter, the lighter the background becomes. The Ladies seemed to enjoy doing this as much as I did. Thanks to Katrina!
I hope you've enjoyed seeing these cards today, do pop by again soon!
