Amazing Birthday

At February's Just For Fun classes we used the Amazing Birthday stamp set from the Spring/Summer catalogue.

I must admit that I skipped over it when i first viewed the catalogue in November as it wasn't 'me'. But I did like the sample card.
Roll forward to February and the ladies each received a set in their class kit.
Whenever they buy a new set of stamps I tell them to think of 5 ways to use it. With this in mind we made 4 cards which are all slightly different.
The first you will have seen as we CASED it (Copy And Share Everything) from the catalogue.

The base card is sweet sugarplum. The smaller of the stamps is randomly stamped top and bottom on the card.
The larger 'happy birthday' is stamped straight onto patterned DSP (Tutti Frutti - such a bargain at £9 for 48 sheets, each 6" square). We cut 2 strips from another of the DSP sheets and placed them above and below the stamped piece. A little washi tape (Basics Pack 1 - 5 different rolls for £7.25). The card is finished with powder pink Love Mini Tinsel Trim (comes in a combo pack with a roll of gold £8.25).
Next is a more masculine card.

A base of soft suede with a piece of Tutti Frutti DSP (as before). On this is a layer of early espresso which has a piece of Wood Textures DSP on it. The very top layer is very vanilla card which is stamped with the large happy birthday stamp. This has been coloured with early espresso ink and a water brush then then splattered with gold Wink of Stella (retired). The small 'happy' has been stamped again on a scrap, coloured with Stampin' Write Marker pen in crushed curry then fussy cut.
Moving on now to what is my favourite of the 4 cards.

A powder pink base layered with lemon lime twist then whisper white which has been stamped in both the powder pink and lemon lime using a stamp from the SAB set Eclectic Expressions. I think that, along with Gorgeous Grunge, this will be a set I keep forever - long after SAB finished at the end of March!
Next some lemon lime twist Mini Striped Ribbon, more lemon lime card and a further layer of whisper white. This has been stamped with the large happy birthday stamp and coloured with watercolour pencil and a blender pen, starting deeper at the bottom and fading to about 1/3 the way up each letter. Once the blender pen has been used on top you get an almost ombre effect. To finish - Tutti Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins.
Finally, this last card was inspired by Nancy Ferb. Her card has 4 coloured strips straight onto a white card base with ribbon and a bow.

Our base is bermuda bay. Our whisper white layer has 5 different sized strips of subtle cardstock on top onto which we've stamped the happy birthday. A piece of that lush bermuda bay Mini Chevron Ribbon and some Tutti Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins.
I thought this was a super way to use up some of those card scraps we have stashed away. Thank you Nancy!
I think this stamp set may finally have won me over - my ladies seemed pleased to receive it.
Have fun crafting and keep warm in the snow,
Lesley x
