Two Coffees

I don't quite understand why, but I do love the latest coffee shop style stamp sets. I'm not even sure how they became so popular. My friend Pat says she doesn't 'get it' at all. To be honest, nor do I. I just like them!
With this in mind, I'd like to share two recent cards I made. One is using Coffee Cafe stamp set from the annual catalogue, along with coordinating DSP. The other is the new Merry Cafe stamp set from the Autumn/ Winter catalogue. Both sets work with the Coffee Cups Framelits dies.
Back to the first card. I made it as part of a shoebox swap when I gathered together with about 10 other demos for a shared crafting day. I'll show you the card then explain what a shoebox swap is, for those of you new to this term.
Here is the front of the card -
A Pool Party base card, the coffee pot and cup is cut from Coffee Break DSP. One of the Framelits dies matches with the cup, so that was quick to cut. I used  Stitched Shapes Framelits to cut the aperture and frame on the card.
Inside -
You can see the stamped cup with the sentiment that shows through the aperture and I've also stamped some coffee beans for added interest and to 'pull the card together'.
Shoebox Swap - each person participating makes one sample card and then prepares a pack of supplies for each person attending to reproduce that sample. Everything that is required to make the card is packed into a shoebox and brought to the event. This is then passed around for each person to make theirs. So, for instance, if 10 people attend including yourself, you will take home 9 cards that you have made plus your own original sample. It's good fun! I got to make some super cards that day and shared time with my lovely friends.
My second card is one I prepared for a recent Coffee and Card session in Costa. It uses the Merry Cafe stamp set and I thought the sentiment apt as, due to the season, pumpkin latte is just back in the coffee shops. Yum!
Here is the card -
Please do bear in mind that my photography is very amateur. I have tried to show the super new Year Of Cheer Speciality Washi Tape in this photo. It is in lovely metallic foil shades , I've used a piece from 4 of the 5 rolls in the set on this card. To give texture to the whipped cream on the cup (without adding bulk and weight), I've stamped onto crepe paper, fussy cut it then stuck onto the card. A light smear of glue came through as I was adhering it to the card front, onto this I dropped a pinch of copper embossing powder and left to dry (not heat setting), to resemble cinnamon sprinkle on the whipped cream.
I really like both of these cards and hope you do too!
Have a good week and, for those of you who subscribe to my newsletter, look out for this weeks free 12 weeks of Christmas project which will arrive in your inbox on Wednesday.
