Birthday Panic!
Every year I get Pat's birthday wrong. I ALWAYS think it's in November, even if I write it into the diary for October, and this year was no different.
She always gets a card though rarely on the correct day but I did manage to make one from scratch and get it to her house on the day itself.....basically because another friend delivered it for me! Talk about skid in on the seat of me pants!
The only thing I knew was that I was going to use dragonflies and glue the wings together. Huh! Really inspiring...not!
I was happy enough with my final card and loved the colourway, though I'm not sure it's to Pat's taste. But anyway, she got a handmade card from me and I will expect her to be eternally grateful!
I started with the inside and the front just came together later.

The photos show the card base as a little darker than it actually is - Marina Mist. The next layer is silver foil card stock, the top piece has been sponged with Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral and Tangerine Tango ink. I used the Happy Birthday thinlet die in silver foil and also used the same foil for the dragonflies which are from the Detailed Dragonfly thinlets. The die actually cuts 5 linked together but I just used 3. The wings are Marina Mist card which has had gold Wink of Stella (retired) added to it. The clouds are vellum punched with the Pretty Label Punch.
To create the inside I punched out a shape from some scrap card using the Pretty Label Punch again and used it as a mask, sponging white ink through it into the inside of my card base. I die cut 5 dragonflies (same thinlet set as before) in silver foil attaching wings behind, three in the orange shades and two in blue with gold Wink of Stella. Next I scored and folded the dragonflies then glued them together before attaching them to the card. Below you can see the detail a little more clearly.
By the skin of my teeth and with a little help from a friend I made it on time!
I hope she had a fabulous day!
